Joan Harker and Ann Bullman opened Wimborne’s first Letting Agency in 1988. This was also the year of the new Housing Act, which radically altered the law in regard to residential letting. The professional service Harker & Bullman offered appealed to many home owners and their portfolio grew rapidly. Soon Harker & Bullman moved to first floor offices in the centre of Wimborne where they expanded their staff from the original two partners and secretary to a team of 6.

Early membership of ARLA (The Association of Residential Letting Agents) ensured that they had the valuable back-up of a well respected organisation and also the training facilities to ensure that the team maintained high standards in all aspects of the business.

In 1994 Stephanie Richardson joined Joan and Ann as an Associate and 18 months later, when the original partners were planning their retirement, Stephanie and her husband David purchased the business and have successfully managed it ever since.

The portfolio has continued to grow, largely through word of mouth recommendation, and in 1995 Harker & Bullman moved to their present much larger and lovingly restored offices in Park Lane.

Today the team has grown to 10 but the same professional approach and high standards of customer service remain paramount. Many new areas of responsibility have been introduced into the Lettings industry – Buy-to-Let, Safety Certification, Energy Performance, Deposit Protection, Property Licensing to name but a few – but you can count on Harker & Bullman for sound, honest, up-to-date advice on all valuation, marketing and legal issues.
